Forest Green Rovers v Bristol City

Bristol City went 1-0 down to an early goal directly from a free kick by ex-Bristol City player Darren Jones.

The first half saw City line up as follows with Gary Johnson promising games to 20 outfield players (10 in the first half and 10 in the second):

Chris Weale
Bradley Orr (without face mask)
Louis Carey
James Wilson
Brian Wlson
Ivan Sproule
Cole Skuse
Lee Johnson
Michael Barnes (Trialist from Manchester United)
Dele Adebola
Jennison Myrie-Williams

It is traditional for Bristol City to lose to Forest Green Rovers in a friendly, it happens every year and lulls opponents into thinking we are not good enough for league football.

Sounds like the Sven Goran Ericsson approach to friendlies

Indeed. But an improvement to losing 4-1 there this time last season. Johnson tries to cover every position and therefore has his "first first team" and his "second first team". As this was the first friendly that was what was being tested. A few players weren't available and a few new signings. It will be another successful season in BS3 and you heard that here first.
