No Iwelumo for Wolves on Saturday

Iwelumo was sent off for violent conduct at Preston North End last Saturday (Sept 20). Because it was a straight red card an automatic three-match ban comes into immediate effect. Wolves had appealed the decision but it was upheld by an FA hearing today.

It was the first red card ever received by Chris Iwelumo in hs 12 year career that has seen him represent 11 different clubs.

Preston defender Sean St Ledger, who was the victim of the tackle that saw Iwelumo sent off, appealed to the referee after the game in an attempt to get the decision rescinded but to no avail. Iwelumo misses games against City, Reading and Swansea, but the three match ban was not increased because the FA deemed that the appeal was not of a frivolous nature.

I am not sure what grounds Chris Iwelumo had to appeal on, because there was a definite coming together of heads.
