GRANT IS A LOAN STAR

City midfielder Grant Smith, currently on loan at Walsall, hit top form last night notching both goals in Walsall's 2-1 away victory at Tranmere.

Walsall's victory gives them more hope of avoiding relegation and has thrust today's opponents at Ashton Gate, Gillingham, firmly into a relegation spot, while also putting the pressure on City, who know that they cannot afford to slip up or they will be back in the relegation dogfight.

City will probably be without injured strike duo of Mark McCammon and Marcus Stewart for today's match, almost certainly meaning another opportunity up front for Bas Savage while Luton loanee Calvin Andrew is likely to be on the bench.

In last night's other division one match Jamie Smith was an unused sustitute for Brentford after completing his loan move from the Robins.
The Bees were , it seems, rather unfortunate to lose 2-1 against Swansea in a promotion battle at the Liberty Stadium.
