Bristol City 0-2 Portsmouth

Bristol City's FA Cup adventure for another year ended on Tuesday with a 2-0 defeat against holders Portsmouth at Ashton Gate.

Armand Troare was denied by Bristol City 'keeper Adriano Basso early on before
Marvin Elliott and Nicky Maynard both tested Portsmouth's David James, who made fine saves. After the post had denied David Nugent and Traore the visitors finally took the lead when a break was started and finished by Peter Crouch (38), but he did appear to handball at the start of the move.

In the second half Crouch missed the chance to extend the lead when put clean through with the hosts again denied by James when he saved from Maynard, with Lee Johnson also heading wide. The win was wrapped up when Niko Kranjcar (88) put the finishing touch to another swift counter by the guests, with the home sides misery compounded when Maynard had an injury-time penalty saved.
