LUKE EYES WORLD CUP GLORY

City's Australian international Luke Wilkshire has spoken of his excitement at the prospect of being involved in this summer's World Cup.

Luke has gained seven international caps with the 'Socceroos' and having been a regular squad member for the past couple of seasons has high hopes of being selected for the World Cup party to travel to Germany.

The likeable ex-Middlesbrough player says that the Aussies have a side capable of qualifying from their group and ,should they do so, anything can happen in the knock out stages.

City supporters will be dismayed to hear, however, that Luke feels that being out of the first team at Ashton is harming his career and international prospects. Luke's contract expires at the end of the season and he will look at the situation at the end of the World Cup and , depending on his first team prospects, will decide whether to resign at Ashton Gate or seek pastures new.

There will be no shortage of interested clubs if Luke decides on a move which would be a disappointment to City's management, both in terms of playing strength and financially - City would not receive a fee for a player who cost them £250,000.
