Players to Review Blues Clash

Gary Johnson has ordered his Bristol City players to re-watch Wednesdays 1-0 defeat at St. Andrews to Birmingham City in order to right their wrongs.

City threw away what could have been a valuable away point with just minutes remaining when Franck Quedrue rose unchallenged to head a late corner past Adriano Basso.

The fuming City boss held the players behind for long after the final whistle in a heated discussion with those at fault for the goal. Johnson was also absent for any post-match comments as Bristol City coach and legend Alan Walsh spoke to the press in his place.

However, today the City boss reappeared to the faces of the press and was ready to speak about the consequences of the late Birmingham winner. Johnson told bcfcworld: 'The boys will be watching through the game after a loosening off session today, and then they'll be asked to report back to myself and the coaching staff.

'Sometimes in their heads they think they've done alright, until they see the video and realise they didn't do enough - individually and as a team. We think it will embarrass them into a performance at Derby.

'We quite rightly had heated discussions in the dressing room and we'll see if that creates a reaction amongst the lads. I'd used up all my energy in that hour after the game.

'I apologise to those people who wanted to hear what I had to say, but I knew I would be conducting interviews today ahead of the Derby game and would comment on the game then.'

City now prepare to take on Derby County away on Saturday without a win in their last two matches.

Tough luck - one point from the last nine is not play-off form.
