Trundle warned over fitness

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has issued a warning to Lee Trundle that he must improve his fitness if he hopes to get back into the first team squad.

The 32 year old has been hampered with badly blistered feet this summer so that is not helping his progress.

But Johnson has told the player that he must work hard if he wants to find his way back into the manager`s thoughts when picking a side.

'We felt Lee didn't come back as fit as he might have been,' Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post.

'Because some of the other lads had already done some work before July 1, Lee found himself behind them and having to play catch-up.

'Of course, that creates problems of its own and now he's picked up an injury trying to make up lost ground.

'Lee is behind the others in terms of fitness and has a lot of ground to make up.'
