Johnson gets serious as City face Wycombe

Gary Johnson has warned Bristol City's squad that Saturday's final game of pre-season will have a lot to do with who is chosen for the season`s opener in the Championship.

City take on Wycombe Wanderers who have just been promoted to league one and Johnson is intending to field the strongest side he can put together for what will be a stiff test for his players.

He told the club's official website: 'The lads will know it's serious against Wycombe.

'I want the lads to show me how much they want to play in the first game at Preston when they take to the field on Saturday.

'Obviously there could still be some fine tuning after Saturday, but I will have a very good idea of who I want to play in the first game.'
