'If It's Football, It's Vital'

INTERNATIONAL SCHEDULE IRRITATES JOHNSON

Bristol City could be set to clash with the Scottish Football Association over their World Cup qualifier in Norway next week.

Scotland's squad has been decimated by injury and City's Paul Hartley, David Clarkson and Jamie McAllister have all been called into the squad by George Burley for the game in Oslo on 12 August.

"We're going to have to decide whether we allow our players to go," manager Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol.

"Many of the Scottish team are playing in the Championship so I can't work out why they'd have this game now."

The game is due to take place in the Norwegian capital four days after the opening round of Championship games and less than a day after City's Carling Cup first round tie at Brentford.

'It's not an international week so I don't think you have to let them go, but it's a qualifying game for Scotland so that makes it a bit difficult,' said Johnson.

City's welsh centre-back Lewin Nyatanga is also set to be called up for his country's away game with Montenegro and Johnson added: "It would be difficult to allow Lewin, who's in our first team, to go for a friendly."

"I'll wait and see who's in the squads and take it from there."
