Maynard Scoops Our Player Of The Month

Maynard Scoops Our Player Of The Month

Nicky Maynard has been voted as Bristol City's Player of the Month for August by fans who visit the Vital Bristol City website.

In the week of voting, we asked our fans to vote for the best Robins player for August and Maynard predictably romped home, picking up 49% of the vote.

Fellow newbie Paul Hartley came in second place with 35% with Liam Fontaine coming third on 16%.

Maynard was City's top scorer during August with a brilliant return of five goals from his six League and Cup appearances.

The striker has started the season in irrestible form, notching in the Carling Cup First Round defeat of Brentford before bagging winning goals in the home league wins over Palace, QPR and a brace at against Middlesbrough.

The former Crewe hitman has really started living up to his £2.25m price tag following an injury disrupted debut season last year and is largely responsible for City's excellent return of 10 points from our five games.

Congratulations to Nicky and thanks to everyone that voted.

Keep up the good word, kid!
