'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Goalkeeper Situation Has Not Changed

There are contract negotiations going on between Bristol City goalkeeper Adriano Basso and the club but at the moment, things remain the same with the stopper still on the transfer list.

Basso wanted the move and requested to go on the list in the summer, but he made his first appearance of the season for the Robins in Tuesday nights 0-0 draw with Swansea as Dean Gerken was ill.

Even so, Johnson revealed Basso's situation at Ashton Gate has not changed.

He told the club's official website: 'The chairman is talking to Basso and he knows my views on it.

'We just need to go a bit softly-softly on it. The last time we said we're speaking to him there was a big headline in the paper that he'd climbed down. That disappointed the player and it set him back a month or two.

'As we said, when we need him we would play him because he's still under contract and he gave his all when he needed to (at Swansea).'
