Youngster Plays Down Everton Link

Robins youngster James Wilson is flattered by the reports linking him with Everton but has been quick to play down the speculation as nothing more than a rumour.

The 20-year old has been linked with a move to Goodison Park after impressing watching scouts during his loan spell with the Bees.

Rumours of Everton's interest first began to surface when Wilson was on loan at Griffin Park last season and now the youngster is back with the Bees, the rumours have started again, despite City tying the player down to a four-year contract in November last year.

"I never heard anything about the Everton interest apart from stuff in the papers, so I think it was nothing more than speculation," Wilson told skysports.

"It is always nice to be linked with such big clubs as Everton, but I didn't really pay much attention to it anyway.

"There is so much rubbish in the papers these days, which people just seem to make up, so it just goes in one ear and straight out the other."

I bet if genuine interest****ed up he'd be interested! I'm not sure what to think about this, he hasn't been given many first team opps - I value Ribs as a greater defensive prospect anyway. If we did sell Wilson, can't see us getting much for him except maybe a juicy set of clauses.

There's no way we should consider selling Wilson. He's a top prospect who's developing all the time. It doesn't help that Tony Fawthrop and Jimmy Lumsden (both former City manager's) are involved in Everton's youth set-up up there. Deadwood needs to be moved on to allow the decent kids to come through.
Tins
I think its all knackers, I dont see Everton being interested in paying out for someone who still has three years on their contract. If he gets in City's side and does well for a season he'll attract interest
