Iwelumo Leaves, Austrian Arrives

Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo has rejected the chance to extend his loan deal beyond the initial month at Bristol City.

The big Scot, 31, has impressed during his eight games in the West Country, scoring two crucial goals, but he seemingly wasn't too impressed by our management to extend it any further.

With the popular big man now back at Molyneux for the forseeable future, manager Gary Johnson has again used his friendship with Mick McCarthy to loan another lump from Wolves, in the form of 6ft 8ins Austrian striker Stefan Maierhofer.

This comes less than a fortnight after Johnson told the press in no uncertain terms: "You take a bit of a chance when you bring a foreign player in. I've had a chat with the chairman and it's a chance we won't be taking again", yet today the 27-year old Austrian has arrived!

His loan will run until 11th April and has managed one goal for Wolves in the Premiership this season.

Let's hope we give the 12th senior striker we've had on our books this season some decent service this time, but don't hold your breath!
