Creditable 1-1 draw For Robins In Sweden

Steve Coppell took charge of City for the first time yesterday and managed to get a creditable 1-1 draw with IFK Gothenburg.

And to top off a good day for the new manager, it was his first signing Albert Adomah who grabbed City's goal - with a stunning 20-yard drive - and local lad Cole Skuse skippered the team.

Coppell told the Bristol Evening Post: "I am glad we didn't get beaten. It went alright. We have had a hectic few days - the players were up at 4am yesterday (for the flight to Sweden).

"We trained yesterday and we trained this morning, so it has been physically demanding."

On Skuse leading the team out against the former UEFA Cup champions, Coppell said: "I think he's captain material.

"I think a lot of players in the club are really sensible. He is a proud Bristol player and it wasn't really a big decision.

"I have to find an eleven first and we have got a lot of games ahead of us. Some players may filter to the top and some may drop to the bottom."

City's second game of the tour is against Helsingborg, who currently top the Allsvenskan table by five points, on Thursday evening.
