Carey Retains Captain's Armband

Carey Retains Captain's Armband

City boss Steve Coppell has decided to retain Louis Carey as captain for the coming season.

Coppell confirmed that the defender will carry on where he left off last term, even though he has missed the majority of pre-season through injury.

Coppell said: "Louis Carey is the captain of this club and I don't see any reason for that to change.

"The sad thing is I haven't been able to see him pull on a pair of boots yet because of the injury he suffered carrying a barbecue, but hopefully he's not too far away.

"He's not a table-thumper but he's a leader and has the respect of the players."

Midfielder Cole Skuse is expected to be his deputy having skippered the team throughout pre-season.
