Pompey Confirm Sonko Deal

Out-of-favour Stoke centre-back Ibrahima Sonko has joined Pompey on a season-long loan, with City's offer coming too late for the Senegalese international.

Sky Sports reported on Monday that City were ready to hijack the deal, after agreeing an 11th-hour deal with Stoke to take Sonko on a similar loan.

And it was hoped City boss Steve Coppell would be able to persuade the 29-year-old to move to Bristol having previously worked together at Reading.

But City's move came too late as Pompey had already sealed the deal.
