Akinde banished on loan to the Gas!

City have loaned the Gas young striker John Akinde until the end of the year.

Akinde, 21, has fallen down the pecking order at Ashton Gate following the arrivals of Brett Pitman and Jon Stead on Monday.

"John's first team opportunities are going to be limited," City boss Keith Millen told the club's website.

"For the sake of his own career he needs to get games under his belt and this loan offers him just that.

"It's convenient because the move is local and he won't have to move anywhere. We're also able to keep an eye on his performances.

"However, the main thing is he gets playing some games between now and Christmas."

The six-foot two-inch forward goes straight into their squad for tomorrow's home game with Southampton at the Memorial Ground.
