Millen: Pitman needs time

City boss Keith Millen is urging fans to show patience with new striker Brett Pitman.

The new £800,000 recruit from Bournemouth last month has yet to find the net in four Championship games since his arrival.

But Millen knows the Channel Islander will come good once he settles into the rigours of Championship football.

"Moving up from the lower leagues to the Championship has been a massive step for Brett," the City boss told the Bristol Evening Post on Monday.

"It's a big step-up in class, and the pace and tempo of games in the Championship are far more demanding than anything he has been used to.

"He said he was having difficulty with the pace of the game against Watford and it was a case of giving him a rest.

"Brett is still finding his feet at this level and it will take him a while. We believe we have signed a player with exciting potential, but people are going to have to be patient."
