Haynes poised for Barnsley move

City forward Danny Haynes could be set to join Barnsley, after the two clubs agreed a fee late on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old travelled up to South Yorkshire on Wednesday for talks with the Tykes, following City's decision to accept the six-figure offer.

Millwall and Charlton were reportedly in pole position to take Haynes back to London but neither club came up with a firm offer allowing Barnsley to nip in.

And with the Tykes powerless to stop Adam Hammill joining Wolves for £500,000 this week, boss Mark Robins sees Haynes as the ideal replacement.

The news comes hot on the heels of City manager Keith Millen denying any offers had come in for his in-demand striker.

Just yesterday Millen said: "I'm not aware of any offers having been made for Danny Haynes and, as far as I know, there has been nothing official."

Haynes has scored once in 10 games for City this season and has 18-months left on his current contract at Ashton Gate.
