Stead out for the season

City striker Jon Stead has been ruled out for at least two months, following ankle surgery on Thursday night.

The 27-year-old front man has played with the ankle injury throughout the season, and boss Keith Millen is particularly gutted about losing another forward.

"Jon saw the surgeon on Tuesday and he suggested and went ahead with an operation on his ankle," Millen told bcfc.co.uk.

"For the past few weeks Jon hasn't been himself and has struggled to train and run around freely.

"It's disappointing but you need to look after the player's health. The best course of action was surgery."

Millen hopes Stead will be back to full fitness for the last seven games of the season.
