'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Contact With Anyone Over Maynard.

Bristol City manager Keith Millen says that no club have been in contact regarding the availability of Nicky Maynard.

And Millen is hoping that it stays that way so there will be no problem getting him to sign a new contract at the end of the season.

Maynard has returned from injury in a rich vein if form with him knocking in three goals in his last three outings which in turn has prompted talk of Liverpool and Everton being interested.

'There is always speculation and you cannot do anything about that,' said Millen to the Bristol Evening Post.

'But I'm surprised to have to answer so many questions about this at this stage of the season.

'It does not worry me, because I know there is nothing in it. In fact, I see it as a compliment. I want people to be talking about my players, because that means they are doing something right.

'We have not heard anything from Everton, Liverpool or any other club and, as far as I'm concerned, this is just newspaper talk. Sometimes agents put things out there and sometimes it's just gossip.

'He scored 21 goals last year and no-one came knocking on our door. I'm hoping it will be the same this summer, because we certainly don't want to lose him.'
