City trio back in contention

City boss Keith Millen received some much-needed good news, as three of his senior pro's returned to action.

Jamie McAllister, Cole Skuse and Jon Stead all played 45 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly against an Academy XI at Failand training HQ on Thursday.

All three players came through the match unscathed and made themselves available for selection when Doncaster come to town on Saturday.

"It's good to get back out on the pitch again and it was a good run-out," McAllister told the Bristol Evening Post.

"There was no discomfort from my rib and I felt okay. All I could really do was rest after I was first injured, but I've been back in training for a week or so now and I've done a lot of running.

"I may not have that sharpness that comes from playing regular games, but I feel fit and I've told the manager I'm available if he needs me."

McAllister seems likely to go straight back into an injury-hit back four on Saturday, with Christian Ribeiro joining Liam Fontaine on the sidelines and Steven Caulker returning to Tottenham.

Midfielder Kalifa Cisse is also rated 50-50 for Saturday after picking up a thigh injury in training this week.
