Robins reject further Maynard bids

Robins reject further Maynard bids

Bristol City have rejected two further bids from Leicester City for Nicky Maynard.

The Foxes have stepped up their hunt to bring the 24-year-old to the King Power Stadium after being snubbed in their pursuit of Craig Mackail-Smith, who joined newly-promoted Brighton on Monday.

But City remain defiant and have reiterated their stance that the former Crewe striker will not be sold to a fellow Championship club.

"Once again we have made clear our position," chairman Colin Sexstone told bcfc.co.uk. "We do not wish to sell Nicky, especially to a rival club in our division.

"Talks continue with Nicky and his representatives with regards to a new contract."

Sven-Goran Eriksson's latest offer - which is believed to have stood at £4 million before various add-ons - comes just days after completing the signing of former Portsmouth striker David Nugent.
