'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Eriksson Accepts He Won't Get Maynard

Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson says that it now looks unlikely that he will be approaching Bristol City again with another offer for striker Nicky Maynard.

Eriksson has made no secret of the fact that he wanted to take Maynard back to the King Power Stadium and last night the striker gave him a reminder of what he could do by grabbing both goals for the Robins as they beat Leicester 2-1.

Maynard has not yet signed a new deal at Ashton Gate and only has another year on his contract left to run, but the ex-England boss feels that the player is not going to come to Leicester City when he can attract the attentions of a Premier league club or two.

'He is always dangerous because of the pace he has,' Eriksson said.

'You always need two players against him. His goalscoring record is very, very good and he is a very good player.

'But I am not sure that the player wants to come or the club wants to sell so it is very difficult.'

Lets be realistic, if a premiership club comes in for him and they offer enough cash he will be gone like a rat up a drain pipe. Fingers crossed that they don't
