Big Sam Confirms Maynard Interest

It turns out that the reports in the papers the other day were true, Sam Allardyce is interested in taking striker Nicky Maynard to West Ham.

Maynard's future at Ashton Gate is by no means sorted out, the striker still has not signed a contract extension and there has been three solid bids from Leicester City, the last one believed to have been around the 5million mark.

All bids have been turned around so far and City hope to be able to talk Maynard into signing a new deal.

However, Allardyce is keen to bolster his attacking options and has made enquiries about Maynard's availability. And with them being favourites to win the Championship and make a quick return to the top flight, Maynard may have his head turned.

'It is down to whether Bristol City want to sell,' Allardyce told The People.

'We have looked into whether he's available but enquiries have been made as discreetly as possible.'
