'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reading's View

Reading manager Brian McDermott was very happy with the way his side came from two goals down to with the game at Ashton Gate on Tuesday.

Goals from Jobi McAnuff, Adam Le Fondre and Mathieu Manset made sure Readin got the precious three points after Albert Adomah and Brett Pitman had handed City a comfortable cushion and looked to be cruising to a much needed win.

And afterwards McDermott praised the fighting spirit in his players.

'You've got that (spirit) or you haven't. It comes with results and it comes over time,' he said.

'I've been lucky enough to have such a good group and we've still got that spirit and you have to maintain that.

'Tonight we've done that and we've given our fans a really good night.

'At 2-0 Adam Federici kept us in the game. He made two or three brilliant saves, and then when Jobi got the goal I thought we could go on and we certainly did.

'Our substitutes came on and did well, and that's why we're such a good group.

'We have to be absolutely delighted to come here, 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go and win the game 3-2 - it's fantastic for our fans.

'It gives us the momentum of getting seven points from the last nine.

'We were hanging in there. There were times we didn't play as well as we wanted to but it was a fantastic result.'
