Brown Would Allow City To Talk To McInnes
St Johnstone chairman Geoff Brown has admitted that they may not be able to put up much of a fight to keep manager Derek McInnes if Bristol City were to come knocking.
McInnes has emerged as one of the favourites for the Ashton Gate hot-seat following the removal of Keith Millen from the post and St Johnstone has already said that they would let their manager speak to City if a deal could be struck by way of compensation.
McInnes is still only 40 and has an ambition to be a top manager in the game, that may mean a move to England and Brown knows that his club could not produce the same sort of money that clubs in the Championship can, making it very hard to keep his man.
'The wages in the Championship make the money St Johnstone can afford to pay a manager look insignificant,' he told the Daily Record.
'Derek would have to ask himself if he was improving himself by going south. If he decided that's what he wanted to do I'd have to admit everyone's entitled to be ambitious.
