City Get Their Man

Bristol City have confirmed the appointment of Derek McInnes as their new manager.

The City board said that the Scott was the 'unanimous choice' for the job and he moves to Ashton Gate after a four year spell at St Johnstone.

Tony Docherty will come with McInnes as his assistant, both signing deals with the club that will keep them at Ashton Gate until 2014.

Chairman Colin Sexstone told the club's official website: 'Throughout this process we received applications from a host of very strong candidates but in the end Derek stood out above all others.

'Derek was the unanimous choice of the board of directors and majority shareholder. He's an impressive character who is very highly-rated in the game. Derek has the drive and energy that proved to us he was the right man to take the club forward, both in the short-term and - even more importantly - in the medium to long-term.'
