'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wood Earns City A Vital Three Points At Forest.

Chris Wood celebrated returning to the side by netting what proved to be a vital goal for Bristol City as they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.

The win saw City claw their way out of the relegation zone and at the same time, put forest in all sorts of trouble at the bottom end of the table.

Wood was the coolest man on the pitch when he stepped up to net from the penalty spot early in the second half of this game after Forest keeper Lee Camp had brought down Jon Stead in the area.

The first half of this encounter was a pretty dour affair with neither side managing to conjure up something that resembled a goalscoring opportunity apart from Dean Gerken having to make a save from Andy Reid`s shot from the edge of the box.

It`s fair to say that despite the lack of clear cut chances, the home side were having the best of the game when City were presented with their chance from the penalty spot.

The Forest keeper pushed the ball out as far as Stead from a Richard Foster cross, then proceeded to run at the striker while he was bringing the ball under control and Stead ended up on the deck with the referee pointing at the spot.

Wood stepped up to take the kick and although the keeper guessed the right way and got a hand to the ball, power took it into the net and City fans celebrated an away goal.

Forest pushed hard to get themselves back in the game but there was no beating Gerken who tipped a Blackstock header over the bar and then saved from another header, this time from Tudgay in the closing stages of the game.

A brilliant 3 points now it is so important that we beat coventy, a loss would be such a waste of the hard work put in at forest

The lads have to go all out and do everything in their power to beat Coventry, only 3 points will do
