The Return Of The Plastic Pitch?

There are plans afoot that could see the return of plastic pitches to some grounds that are in the English leagues.

The idea will be discussed at the Football League's annual general meeting in Portugal this week.

All 72 clubs will be represented and points made will be debated, the pitch idea could be taken forward to a formal vote or placed on the back burner until a later date.

It is known that there are several clubs, mainly from leagues one and two that are very keen on the prospect of artificial surfaces.

There will also be a vote at the AGM on whether to resort back to the use of seven substitutes for league games after the number was reduced to five last summer.
