'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Carey Takes The Praise

Manager Derek McInnes was full of praise for City's Louis Carey following his testimonial game against local rivals Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

A good turnout and a great atmosphere awaited Carey and the rest of the side who did not let the fans down by trouncing Rovers 3-0.

On the score sheet was Martyn Woolford, Albert Adomah and Stephen Pearson, while the man of the moment, Carey, left the field to a standing ovation shortly after the half time break.

McInnes told the clubs official website: 'He deserved the ovation he got before the game, during the game and after the game.

'I think he was a bit nervous no-one would turn up! But ticket sales in the last couple of days really helped matters.

'It was a fantastic atmosphere. The Rovers fans getting behind their team and the rivalry made it a proper game. We wanted to make sure we put in a performance that merited the game.

'It's more important players feel confident with their fitness and their performances but results can only help that.'
