City Set For Monk Deal?

City Set For Monk Deal?

Bristol City are in talks with Swansea defender Garry Monk about coming to Ashton Gate after the player was told he has no future at the Liberty Stadium.

Robins boss Derek McInnes is a fan of Monk and although he is now 33, he believes that he still has something to offer.

City have been on the trail of Monk since early summer but at first the player had no interest in stepping back down to the Championship after Swansea won promotion to the top flight.

Now things are different and McInnes believes that he can talk Monk into signing for City before Friday's deadline.

McInnes told the Bristol Evening News: "We have a week left in the transfer window and we would still like to bring another defender into the squad.

"Ideally, I would like to get a permanent deal done, but we will have to wait and see if that is possible. If not, then we will have the option of the loan window later on."

When asked about his interest in Monk, the City boss said: "It would be wrong of me to comment on specific players.'
