City Beaten Late On By Determined Blackburn

Jordan Rhodes scored twice for Blackburn Rovers as they staged a late fight to beat City 5-3 at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The win took Rovers to the top of the table but at the same time the defeat exposed some terrible defending that Derek McInnes and his side have got to spend some time working on and improving.

It was City who started the better side in this encounter, they had the ball in the net in the first minute of the game, Albert Adomah converting a chance from close range.

Rovers could have equalised in the 10th minute when Rhodes got in a shot at goal but his effort was straight at Tom Heaton in the City goal.

But City could not keep the £8million man at bay for longer than the 28th minute and then he managed to beat Heaton with a shot from just inside the box.

In the second half Jon Stead headed wide of the mark in the early stages, but ten minutes later, Rovers had the lead after some smart work by Rhodes produced a chance for Nuno Gomes which he took.

On 70 minutes, City had leveled the game, this time it was Stephen Pearson who supplied a powerful finish for the home side.

Then on 81 minutes, the visitors had the lead once again when Ruben Rochina found the net with a fine finish.

But again City came back, this time Sam Baldock looked to have given City a share of the points when he scored from close range to make it 3-3.

But Rovers won the game deep into injury time when both Scott Dann and Rhodes managed to add further goals.

It was a very exciting game but you have to wonder just what is going on at the back, a fresh defender with experience should have been brought in we have been crying out for one for long enough.

Maybe things would have been better if Stead had taken the sitter of a chance that he had when the score was 1-1, might have been a different game then.

Steads chance was actually harder to miss than it was to score, rhodes is good, no doubt about it.

We scored three, that should be enough to win any game at home, we wont get any better at the back until we have a central defender who knows the game and can blast out orders to the rest. And for that matter we also need a bit of a hard case in midfield
