McInnes Rues Missed Chances

Bristol City manager Derek McInnes was happy about the goal scored by Stephen Davies in the 1-1 draw with Millwall.

Lions goalkeeper David Forde raced out of his area to head clear a long ball which Davies headed straight back into the net from a full 35 yards out.

The visitors did level the score ten minutes later, but McInnes wanted to remain on the subject of Davies' effort.

McInnes told Sky Sports: 'Steve has metal plates in his head from previous injuries. That's how he generated the power find the net from so far out.

'Actually he is a lad with great ability. I can't recall seeing a goal quite like that before, although I think Derek Johnstone once scored a similar one for Rangers from about 25 yards.'

But the City manager did have to admit that his side were guilty of wasting chances that should have given them all three points on offer.

He went on: 'Millwall battled hard for their point, but we missed two great chances in the second half when Albert Adomah and Steve Davies missed the target.

'Had either one of those gone in I think it would have been a different story. But we have to be more resilient when defending crosses.'

Its not just missed chances although some misses were shocking last night. Its also the defence who dont seem to know their arse from their elbow.

Things were not helped by the toned down atmosphere, it was like a morgue in their last night. Terrible support
