'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McInnes Wants Defending Improvements.

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes came away from the Amex last night wishing that his side had more about them when it comes to defending set pieces.

City went down at the hands of Brighton in a 2-0 defeat that saw the home side strike twice from dead ball situations; this had the City manager pulling his hair out as his side once again find themselves in the relegation zone.

Speaking to reporters McInnes said: 'The Championship is an unforgiving league and if you don't defend set-plays you're in trouble.

'The first goal came from a free header and the second was a breakdown in communication between Matthew Bates and the keeper.

'Yet I believe that had we got one back, Brighton would have been more fragile. We kept going but for all our good play in possession we couldn't get anything from it.'

Not only are City back in the bottom three but there has also been ten defeats for the club out of the last 14 games, even so, McInnes believes that his side can get out of the fix they are in at the moment.

He added: 'We've played Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Brighton in our last three games and they have been tough ones. Our league position is of concern, but I firmly believe we will be all right.'
