'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McInnes Wants Win To Act As A Springboard.

Bristol City manager Derek McInnes is hoping that their moral boosting win over Peterborough on Saturday will be just the thing they need to jump start their season.

It was a very welcome three points on home soil and a great performance by City who, although helped by the sending off of Lee Tomlin, were already a goal in front before the incident.

Sam Baldock scored twice for City and both Paul Anderson and Stephen McManus were also on target in a game that City never looked like dropping points.

McInnes said to Sky Sports after the game: 'We owed our home fans a big performance and that's what we gave them.

'We were the better team apart from a five or ten minute spell after the sending-off, which seemed to affect us more than them.

'It was a huge result for us and one we must use as a springboard. I'm certain we have what it takes to get out of trouble in the New Year.'
