'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bluebird's Boss Praises Campbell

Cardiff City's Fraizer Campbell grabbed a brace against Bristol City on Saturday that gave his side a 2-1 win and boss Malky MacKay says there is more goals to come from his new signing.

Campbell arrived in Wales to join Cardiff in the January transfer window from Sunderland and he certainly looks like he can help the Welsh outfit into the Premier League.

The 25 year old hit two first half goals despite not quite being back to full fitness due to not getting regular games at the Stadium of Light.

When asked about the player by reporters after the game, MacKay said: 'I am delighted for him; you could see the quality there.

'You could see the intelligence, the strength and the link-up play. And for him to get the two goals is obviously really pleasing for him.

'More than anything I am delighted about the lack of ego about the boy and the way he has thrown himself in to everything we do here. He has bought into it and he has grasped it.

'I felt it was time to start him and it is about bleeding him in gently. He has not played a lot of football in the last few months and we have to treat him properly as he builds up to match fitness.'

Having a player like that in your side makes a lot of difference. They look like going up and we are heading downhill. I know he wasn't there from the start but bringing in a player like that at this stage in the season just keeps the pressure on.
