You Cant Fault The Effort says O'Driscoll

Bristol City boss Sean O'Driscoll watched his side put in a good display against promotion hopefuls Brighton and said he liked the effort.

But the point could do little to lift City off the bottom of the table but had the luck been on their side this could have been three points in the bag instead of just the one.

City had their chances while keeping Brighton's threat next to nothing, the result does keep the Robins still in with a shout of avoiding the drop into League One.

O'Driscoll remains confident that on the last few performances alone, there are encouraging signs.

He told reporters after the game: 'The players gave everything and no one would have known which team were bottom and which battling for promotion.

'We have now kept successive clean sheets in goalless games with good sides. That is a big change from earlier in the season and the players have taken on board what I have asked of them.

'We now need that bit of extra quality, but if we keep on showing that level of commitment we will have a chance of surviving in the Championship.'

O'Driscoll did wonder, like many, if he should have shown a little more ambition by bringing on attacking options earlier than he did.

He added: 'Perhaps I could have introduced my attacking substitutes a bit earlier, but we are not the finished article by any means and didn't want to lose the game 1-0 after such a big effort by the players.'
