Bristol City Just See Off Notts County

Bristol City beat Notts County thanks to Sam Baldock's late goal that exposed poor defending in the visitor's side.

City took the lead in the 13th minute when Baldock was on hand to score from close range, it was his 24th of the season and now City can look back at how important his goals have been.

County were not going to roll over and die and they deservedly drew level when Sheenan sent in a corner and Hollis applied the head that saw the ball enter the net giving the keeper no chance.

The visitors really went looking for the winner after that and they missed quite a few chance before Baldock punished a mistake at the back.

Hollis put in a weak header at the back and Baldock pounced before beating the keeper and placing the ball into an empty net.

After the game Steve Cotterill told BBC Radio Bristol: 'Deep down, I thought we were safe after last week [after Walsall win].

'I don't know if it was a game we deserved to win but we're not going to make any apologies for it.

'There's been many a game since I've been here that we've really deserved to win and we haven't.

'It's a good three points and hopefully that nudges us further up the table.'

Was delighted when Steve became the manager. He's done a great job so far. Well done to the players

Definitely not at our best, but you've got to give County credit for their performance
