City Beat Cheltenham At Whaddon Road.

City Beat Cheltenham At Whaddon Road.

Bristol City gave Cheltenham Town something to think about when the to sides met in a pre-season friendly at Whaddon Road.

City ran out 4-1 winners in what could be their final warm up game before they kick off with the league action on August 9th. Even so, manager Steve Cotterill wont be able to pick too much wrong with the performance.

Early chances in the game went to the home side, the first when Harrison got on the end of a long ball out of defence, he got in a shot but Fielding managed to save.

Then Harrison went even closer when he was given another chance on the quarter hour mark, this time his effort came back off the upright.

But soon after that City took the lead when Wagstaff robbed a defender and Baldock tapped the ball n from close range.

Cheltenham were level around five minutes later when Gornell was fouled by Ayling in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Richards took the spot kick and sent Fielding the wrong way for 1-1.

That was the score going into the break.

When the sides reappeared for the second half, Aden Flint came on for for El-Abd; Aaron Wilbraham replaced JET and Joe Bryan took the place of Cunningham.

And one of the players to come on at half time, Wilbraham, grabbed City's second, heading home past Carson on the 60 minute mark.

In the 73rd minute, another sub, Bryan, was first to react after Carson had saved from Wilbraham's initial header, he put the rebound away and City were 3-1 up.

Defender Flint increased the gap in the scores when he got his head on another Little cross to complete the scoring in the 78th minute.
