Worthy Win For Brownhill

Worthy Win For Brownhill

Midfielder Josh Brownhill has said that Bristol City deserve to be in the Play Off positions given how we've started life in the Championship this year.

Going into the October international break, City enjoyed a fine September taking five wins and two draws across all competitions as we extended the unbeaten run to eleven games in total, and we go into the new month in fourth place - knowing we could take second place when football returns on Friday October 13's match with Burton Albion.

Speaking to the Official Site with the players earning a few short days of rest following recent efforts that saw us take a three one victory over Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town, Brownhill insisted that 'hard work' had put us in that position and the players wouldn't ease off in the coming months.

'Everybody has been playing well, everybody is in form - whoever comes on the pitch. We`ve deserved it this month. We`ve got the points at home, a few points away, which when you compare that to last year, we struggled on the road. This year we have been doing well so hopefully we can keep that going after the international break.'

Turning his eyes to Ipswich more specifically, the 21 year old went on to say.

'I thought it was an excellent team performance. In the first half we were very good; in the second half it was a bit more even. We dug deep and it is always hard to come here. They are a good, physical team but I thought we did very well.'

With him hitting his second goal of the season in the game, he added.

'For the goal, I remember being on the edge of the box and Pato cut it back. I hit it and it took a bit of a deflection but sometimes you need that luck and I`ll take it. It felt amazing to come here and be 2-0 up early. We needed that third goal because otherwise it`s always going to be a battle coming towards the end of the game. They are a good side and have scored a lot of goals and that third one helped out a lot and I think we deserved it as well.'
