Instant Reactions - Bristol City v QPR (27/1/18)

Instant Reactions - Bristol City v QPR (27/1/18)

Following today's clash between Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Bristol City hosted Queens Park Rangers at Ashton Gate on Saturday January 27, with the hosts taking a two nil victory with goals coming from Famara Diedhiou and Joe Bryan.

QPR will feel hard done by as Bristol City were reduced to ten men before they hit the first goal, but QPR couldn't muster enough across the 90 minutes, although they did have chances.

Bristol City:

Steele, Wright, Flint, Baker, Bryan, Kent (Magnusson 64), Pack, Smith, Paterson (Brownhill 64), Diedhiou (Diony 74), Reid.

Walsh, Woodrow, Eliasson, Wollacott.

Smithies, Baptiste (Smith 45), Onuoha, Robinson, Scowen, Furlong (Osayi-Samuel 74), Luongo, Freeman, Bidwell, Washington, Oteh (Eze 74).

Lynch, Ingram, Manning, Perch.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Keith Stroud blew the final whistle, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson explained.

'In the first half I thought we moved the ball well, maybe didn't have as many clear cut opportunities as I would have liked, but always looked in control. The sending off could have changed the game, but it didn't, and that bit was down to character - we continued to play our game and still pressed when we could. I'm delighted for Famara to get his goal after a long road back to recovery and it was an emotional celebration with the physios and everybody that had taken him through that period.'

QPR manager Ian Holloway in his comparative interview explained.

'It was probably my worst result ever. That was not my team out there today. We will never have a better chance of beating Bristol City considering the effort they put in against Manchester City in midweek. Our performance was unacceptable and we will have a big meeting on Monday because I can't put up with that. The sending-off should have helped us. Instead, it galvanised them and they were the better side.'
