Capitulation Again - Leeds v Bristol City (18/2/18)

Capitulation Again - Leeds v Bristol City (18/2/18)

Following today's clash between Leeds United and Bristol City, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Leeds United hosted Bristol City at Elland Road for a 3pm kick off on Sunday February 18, with both sides playing out a two all draw.

Bristol City have themselves a two goal advantage inside of the opening 20 minutes of the game with Famara Diedhiou and Bobby Reid finding the back of the net as they started the brighter, but as time wore on, Leeds got themselves back into it and in the final 20 minutes of the match staged a comeback with Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe levelling matters up.

It was Paul Heckingbottom's first point since he made the switch from Barnsley but City have now surrendered the lead in two consecutive matches to drop four points.

Wiedwald, Anita, Pennington, Jansson, De Bock, Dallas (Sacko 64), Forshaw, O'Kane (Phillips (73), Hernandez, Ekuban (Roofe 64), Lasogga.

Lonergan, Alioski, Vieira, Denton.

Bristol City:

Fielding, Wright, Flint, Magnusson, Bryan, Brownhill (Paterson 79), Smith, Pack, Kent, Diedhiou (Woodrow 80), Reid.

Walsh, Steele, Eliasson, Kelly, Diony.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Simon Hooper blew the final whistle, Leeds gaffer Paul Heckingbottom explained.

'The crowd 100% lifted the players, they've won us the points this evening. At 2-0 down it's a tough task, but everybody showed what there were about today, and if you get that alignment between the fans and the players, you can achieve good things.'

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson in his comparative interview explained.

'We were excellent in the first half. We played probably more direct than normal. We could even have gone 3-0 up. We dropped too deep in the second half. I won't chastise my players and in the end we could have lost it. We're still a young group and work in progress - coming to an atmosphere like this will help them learn. We saw the momentum swing in that second half. My disappointment is that we didn't score the third and kill them off.'
