Walsall are the visitors to Ashton Gate on Boxing Day and City will be once again looking for that first league win under Steve Cotterill.
This seaon the visitors sit in eighth place in the league and looking to at least make the play offs, their 21 games so far have yielded 33 points.
So once again we find ourselves in the possition of both sides needing the points for two very different reasons.
It must also not be overlooked that Louis Carey will break John Atyeo's long standing appearance record for the club. What a great servant he has been.
This will be the 62nd time the two clubs have played each other with City winning 26, Walsall winning 21 and 14 games have been draw, the last time the two clubs met was 2006, that season City won both the home and the away game 3-0.
Louis Carey on playing his 646th game for the club 'I'd rather we got out of the relegation zone.
'It's hard at the moment because of the position we're in. I don't want it to be all about me.
'At this moment in time we've got bigger things to think about.'
Bristol City are boosted by the return of Karleigh Osborne when they host Walsall.
The on-loan Millwall defender returns from suspension to boost manager Steve Cotterill's options as he looks to drag the Robins off the foot of League One.
Cant play your 646th game without a mention.
Walsall will be without Adam Chambers for their Boxing Day trip to Bristol City while Craig Westcarr is a doubt.
Midfielder Chambers was booked for the fifth time this season in Saturday's 2-0 win over Carlisle and now serves an automatic one-match suspension.
Westcarr, meanwhile, was forced off shortly before half-time having taken a knock just above his knee and the striker will be assessed
Ten goals so far in all competitions, not scored since Sheff Utd draw so is due another one anytime now.
