Bristol City Through To Round 3
The Lamb Ground
8 December 2013
What looked like a tricky encounter on paper before the kick off proved in the end to be a more comfortable passage into round three than the score line suggested.
Early doors Derrick Williams had to step in with a block to keep out Todd after he went on a good run and at the other end Jay Emmanuel-Thomas went close with an effort that had the home fans jeering.
But they were silenced moments later when the same man picked the ball up from the half way line, progressed forward and unleashed an unstoppable swerving shot into the top corner, beating the keeper hands down.
Both sides were willing to go forward during the first half but it was City that went closest to getting another when the ball came out to Scott Wagstaff but he didn't take enough time to make sure the ball he knocked back in towards an unguarded net was on target.
Tamworth's best chance to equalise came when striker Justin Richards latched onto a long ball but he failed to find the target from close range with only Elliot Parish to beat, he fired past the left hand post.
In the second half it was Baldock who made Richards pay for his miss when he latched onto an Emmanuel-Thomas flick-on and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net via the underside of the bar.
The home side managed to grab a goal back that the linesman adjudged to go over the line after a scramble, but cameras at the game confirmed that the ball did not actually cross the line.
No more problems after that, City now play Watford at home in round three.
