Bristol City's Championship season continued with a defeat against Blackburn at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

This hasn't happened too often with the Robins as the home side in this fixture, but they were beaten two-nil.

Having lost Aston Villa loanee defender Nathan Baker to his second yellow card early in the second half Bristol City were down to 10-men and weren't able to hold out with Blackburn ahead through Grant Hanley (59) a little after.

With Aden Flint bringing down Markus Olsson late on it was left to Ben Marshall (86) to score from the penalty spot to ensure Rovers left with the points.

Prior to Blackburn taking the lead Bobby Reid's effort was the only real chance Bristol City had with Rovers 'keeper Jason Steele saving, whereas Elliott Bennett had an effort deflected wide as the Robins looked to get back at one-all.

Defeat means goal-difference alone keeps Bristol City out of the bottom three!

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Saturday 5th December 2015
Birmingham 0-2 Huddersfield
Bolton 2-3 Cardiff
Brentford 2-0 MK Dons
Brighton 3-2 Charlton
Bristol City 0-2 Blackburn
Burnley 0-2 Preston
Leeds 2-1 Hull
Nottm Forest 3-0 Fulham
Rotherham 1-2 Wolves

Sunday 6th December 2015
Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Derby

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Huddersfield, Brighton and Preston.

A first win for Huddersfield under new boss David Wagner was secured at St Andrew's when Town beat Birmingham, who dropped out of the top six, two-nil to themselves move out of the Championship relegation zone.

The Brighton win, which sees them retain the lead in the Championship, over Charlton wasn't a surprise but with the Seagulls two-nil down in the second half on that note it was! This fightback saw them score twice in the final five-minutes to complete the comeback to win three-two at the Amex Stadium.

Burnley's unbeaten run was ended by Lancashire rivals Preston with the Lilywhites, causing what must be viewed as a surprise win, earning the points against the Clarets with them going away from Turf Moor with a two-nil win.
